MORE THAN 40 FIL-AM AND ALLIED ORGANIZATIONS ALL SET FOR THE PH INDEPENDENCE DAY ( 115th) GRAND PARADE ON JUNE 8, 2013

Los Angeles—More than 50 Filipino-American and allied organizations are all set to participate at the first Philippine (115th) Independence Day Grand Parade in Historic Filipinotown on June 8,2013 at 8…;00 AM

The Independence Day Parade starts and end at Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA). The starting assembly time will be at 7;00 AM and the parade will start at 9;00 AM.

After the parade, from 11;00 to 4;00 PM , the a program of songs and dances will be held at the Silver Lake Medical Center Compound at 1711 W. Temple St.

At the meantime, more than 74 Information and cultural booths will be at the Silver Lake Medical Center at 1711 W. Temple St according to the Kalayaan 2013 Committee headed by Consul General Hellen Barber-De Vega at the last assessment meeting held at the Philippine Consulate last June 4, 2013.

Designated Assembly areas

All participants and contingents are advised to converge for the Consulate-LA, Dinagyang -FACLA and HFNC– at Union/Temple/Burlington St ( in front of FACLA) ; For Filipino Ministry, Non Profits organizations , Fil-Am Youth Groups – at N. Burlington St ( South side/West of FACLA); For Luzon organizations at North Bonnie Brae S; , for the Visayas Group at Mountain View St and for Mindanao groups at Westlake St.( all at the north side of the said streets.) .

They can assemble at those designated assembly areas with their contingents and vehicles from 7:00 AM to 8;30 AM for the parade formation. at the said side streets.
FACLA’s parade theme is the Santa Cruz De Mayo and The Filipino Ministry and the united Bicolandia will join the Santa Cruzan with their Sagalas.

“There are at least more than 50 groups from regional to town organizations who have committed to participate in the said event.” Espiritu added.

Participating Organizations

Organizations that will join the parade are :The FILAM TV, Tribune -USA, Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA), Justice for the Filipino American Veterans (JFAV), Seniors 4 Pilipino American Community Empowerment (S4PACE), Arangkada La Castellana Inc, The Filipino Ministry of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Historic Filipinotown Neighborhood Council (HFNC), Burlington School. Chamber of Commerce of Historic Filipinotown, Iglesia ni Kristo ( INC), Batangas Varsitarians Alumni Association of North America , Knight of Rizal-Historic Filipinotown. KOR of California, People’s CORE, Healthy Homes Coalition-Cerritos, Kabataang maka-Bayan Pro People Youth (KmB), AFFIRM, Danza Cuatehmoc, ANSWER-LA, March Forward Veterans , the City of Walnut,.

Other organizations who are also participating  are :P ALAD Silver Lake CBAS, Binibining Pilipinas 2013, Queen Lola Pageant, The Filipino American Press Club of California. Silver Lake Medical Center (SLMC), Mindanao Alliance, Dinagyang Festival, Los Angeles County Asian American Employees, Jesus is Lord/CARE Ministry, MOTHER Movement, WE ARE ONE Youth organization, United Bicolandia; Filipino American Community of Orange County, Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County, Cajun Caleb Restaurant, Victory Cargo.

More Filipino-American regional,provincial, town and youth organizations in Southern California are expected to attend and participate in the coming parade on Saturday, June 8.

ALL SET FOR THE  PH ILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY  ( 115th) GRAND PARADE IN HFT JUNE 8, 2013

 Los Angeles—All is set for the first Philippine (115th) Independence Day Grand Parade in Historic  Filipinotown on June 8,2013 at 8;00 AM

The Parade starts and end at Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA). The assembly time will be at 7;00  AM and the parade will start at 9;00 AM.

After the parade, from 11;00 to 4;00 PM , a Festival of Philippine Culture and a program of songs and dances  will be held at the Silver Lake Medical Center Compound at 1711 W. Temple St.  Information and cultural booths will be at the place.

Assembly area at N. Burlington St (FACLA side)

All participants and contingents are advised to  converge at FCALA at 1740 W. Temple St. Los Angeles,C A 90026 and at N. Burlington St  from 7:00 AM to 8;30 AM for the formation.

They  can assemble with their contingents and vehicles at the N Burlin gton St side of FACLA for FACLA cannot accommodate all the people and contingents that will join the parade.

Arturo P. Garcia, Parade Coordinator  and  Deputy Consul Espiritu also  said the preparations for the 115th Independence Day and the Grand Parade to be held in Historic Filipinotown on June 8. Is ready to go.

They can assemble with their contingents and vehicles at the N Burlington St south side of FACLA for FACLA cannot accommodate all the people and contingents that will join the parade.

 THE  L @ G AFFAIR EVENT MAY 31, 2013, A SUCESSS!

 Los Angeles-  The Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA)’s L @ G Affair  last  May 31, 2013 be held at the SPORTSMEN’S LODGE HOTEL at 12825 Ventura Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 91604 was a success!

FACLA’s President Baul in his speech at the L and G Affair praised the  21 awardees and achievers  “ as trailblazers in their own field. “  He also said:This multi-racial event  is  “ a ground breaking and historical for FACLA and for the improvement of the 48- year old FACLA Building  and for HIV AIDS Victims in Los Angeles.”

The FACLA President Baul also said: “Let us remember the words of President Obama that unless we have equality and have achieved equality  the United States cannot claim moral ascendancy in American and throughout the world. “

 

L and G Achievers and  Awardees

 

Meanwhile,  we given out at the event  and were given the FACLA Awards and Certificates of Recognition from the Office of  outgoing Council Member and Incoming Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

The  twenty one (21)  personalities who are the  L and G Achievers for 2013 were  as follows;

Lemuel Balagot – Restaurant/Entrepreneu; Philip James Gilberti – Pianist/Composer ; Antonio Maximo – Make-up artist: Anthony Bradshaw – Make-up and hair artist: Christopher Sibley – Sibley entertainment, Promotion Grp./Entrepreneur:David Tupaz – Fashion designer in Las Vegas, Nevada;  Joey Galon – Fashion Designer in Las Vegas, Nevada/Event planner; Bernardo Bernardo – Actor comedian/Singer entertainer; Jo Awayan – Singer/Performer  and Richie Selva – President of LGBT org./Travel industry.

Other awardees in their respective field of expertise are: Dion Santos – Regional Marketing Director of an Ambulance Co./Fashionista/Entertainer/Singer: Giorgio Cerenado - Announcer/ Interior Designer/Entrepreneur; Sonny Madera – Psychiatrist/Administrator of a hospital ; Chevy Evangelista of Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) – Activist for Human Rights from New York : Edward C. Rafael Jr. – Entertainer/Singer Comedian: Lawrence Rey L. Gumban – Manager NoyPitz: and Alan Del Rosario – Fashion Designer.

Special  Awards  was   also be given to the following: Lety Reyes, Baby Batacan and Aleli-Abrigo Neal. .

FACLA’s Treasurer and  L and G Events Coordinator Linda Nery , the events coordinator also thank everybody who attended the affair and made the event a success.
