Obama Acted Too Little, Too Late; Temporary Relief Excludes Filipino Veterans Relatives -JFAV
Los Angeles— President Obama again bowed to the wishes of the conservative Republicans, will continue more deportations, left out the 25,000 relatives of the Filipino Veterans relatives that were included in the immigration bill passed by the Senate eight months ago and only gave temporary relief against deportation to less then 5 million immigrants.
JFAV NAtional Coordinator Arturo Gaecia said, ” Obama acted too Little, to late to a decisive action like giving a pathways to citizenship like what Reagan did in 1986. The Filipino –American community is angry because the 25,000 expedited visas for grandsons and granddaughters of the Filipino veterans grandfathered by the Senate immigration law was not included in the Obama’s Executive Order.”
Garcia added, “ What the 12 million immigrants wanted was a genuine immigration reform was a pathways to citizenship but both parties, Both the Democrats and the GOP played politics for more than ten years and short-changed the American people.”
Only a Temporary Relief to 5 Million
JFAV National Coordinator Arturo Garcia said,” we are frustrated because the 25,000 expedited visas for grandsons and granddaughters of the Filipino veterans were deliberately excluded in the Obama’s temporary relief order.
Again the Veterans were excluded from the deal as they were marginalized by the Rescission Act of 1946 and the ARRA Law that gave them a measly lump sums.
Adding insult to injury, less than 18,000 were given claims and more 25,000 were denied their lump sum claims out of the 43,00 who applied.
Obama Missed the Chance To Be Great
Obama missed the chance to be a decisive president that really cared for the American people and all who really stands for justice and freedom in American.
Obama again, played for the crowd, did lip-service and showed he flip-flops and was a Republican disguised as a Democrat and a blundering demagogue.
Obama’s legacy will remain as the only “First African American President of the United Sates” far cry from reformers like Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt who dared to act and even a far cry from Reagan who gave amnesty to 3 million immigrants in 1986.” Garcia ended.
