LA FILAM Community Leaders Cleaned Up HFT Marker
Los-Angeles- “Our Clean up Can’t Wait.”
Committed FllAm Community leaders did not wait for the city authorities to clean up the newly erected Historic Filipinotown marker at the Temple/ Silverlake Junction or cross raaods in Historic Filipinotwn DTLA.
They did the clean up themselves last Sunday, May 31, 2015.
” We cannot wait for the city and let the trash stays. Some people are really insensitive making the marker their ashtray for their cigarette butts and old picture frames,” Dr Orly Cagampan of the Rampart Village Neighborhood Council (RNVC) commented.
Long Delayed Marker
Ms. Bernie Ganon of Ms. FILAM International said, “We wont allow our marker to be trashed.”
The marker was only unveiled last year 2014 after a long delay due to the economic crisis of 2008. Newly elected District 13 Council member Mitch O’ Farrel inaugurated the marker early 2014 after a long delayed construction
It was a joint project of then District 13 Council member (now Mayor) Eric Garcetti way 2003 and Rep.Xavier Becerra. But was not built until early 2014 when the funds were available.
“We want it to be lighted and gated or else it will another giant trash bin for the homeless and the uncaring folks.” added Art Garcia, the National Coordinator of JFAV and an HFT community leader and a local resident
