SOCAL FILAM LEADERS SUPPORT PH CLAIMS VS CHINA ON ITLOS

Los Angeles—Southern California leaders expressed full and whole-hearted support to the Philippine claim to the West Philippine Seas territories seized and being fortified by China at the International Tribunal of the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) at The Hague, The Netherlands last week.

The TALAKAYAN Sa FACLA leaders expressed their support during their weekly discussions on the national situation in the Philippines last Thursday, July 9, 2015 at FACLA.

Dr. Orly Cagampan said, “The problem with the PH is they did nothing while China was building their infrastructure in the disputed islands.

They rely too much on America which do not relish the idea that they will be depending the Philippines.I would believe America will defend the Philippines if our treaty is like the US Treaty with Japan that explicitly says, the US is obligated to defend Japan in case of an enemy attack. “

Dependence on the US.

Arturo Garcia of JFAV said, “ the problem is that the perpetual modernization of the armed forces. The modernization process is so tainted and filled with graft and corruption such as buying of 2nd hand-helicopters, ships, armored vehicles and defective munitions.

It’s all words and no reality. Like our navy that no ships and our air force, that is all air and no force. They are flying coffins and widow-makers until today. That is why we are so dependent on America.”

Dr. Cagampan pointed out,” we just learned the news that the AFP has turned down the Israel deal for surface to air missile defense system. That could have helped defended our seas and coastlines from Chinese incursions.”

Binay Scam

On the Binay scam, Dr.Veronico Agatep said, “the Supreme Court notice to the Court of Appeals that the Aguinaldo Doctrine which Makati mayor Junjun Binay used in his defense is an unjust law.”

Agatep pointed out that he was the one who initiated the case against Aguinaldo in Cagayan around 1992 when the Supreme Court decided in favor of Aguinaldo due to that unjust 1958 law.

Veteran journalist Larry Pelayo said, “This served notice that the unjust law cannot protect Binay anymore as his TRO was not granted lately by the Court of Appeals (CA) .

This will make life harder for the Binay’s in their graft cases at the Sandiganbayan.
