TO ALL MEMBERS OF FACLA
Pursuant to Article V; Section 2 of FACLA By-laws, an election shall be held on November 15, 2015 for fifteen (15) Directors who will compose the new Board of Director or 2016-2019. Members who intend to run must meet the following qualifications.
1. Be at least twenty-one years of age, a legal resident, and resides in the County of Los Angeles for at least one (1) year prior to the elections:
2. BE a member of good standing for at least one (1) year prior to the election;
3. Have held an elective or appointive position from any refutable or accredited organization for at least one(1) year prior to the election.
4. Have never been convicted of felony or any crime involving moral turpitude.
Every candidate must complete, sign and file a certificate of candidacy and apy a fee of $200.oo to hel cover the cost of the election.
Candidacy forms are available in the office of the manager. Forms must be accompanied by proof legal residency in the United States.
Deadline of submission of certificate of candidacy is August 31, 2015.

SOCAL FILAMS LAUNCHED GRACE POE FOR PRESIDENT MOVEMENT IN LA, August 06, 2015
Los Angeles—“Para sa MALINIS at MAUNLAD na Pilipinas!
At least 15 Filipino American leaders representing different community, business and people’s organizations formally lauched the Grace Poe For President Movement last August 06, 2015 at the Social Hall of the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA) in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles.
Arturo P. Garcia GPM lead convenor said, “ After a long discussion and analysis we came into a conclusion that only a clean and fresh start for the Philippines can continue the reforms that has been made by the current President Pnoy.
We sincerely believe that Senator Grace Poe is the only person that can lead the nation to progress.”

Jun Caringal added, “ equally, Poe need another teammate who signified progress and that is non other than Speaker Sonny Belmonte who left Quezon City with a P10 B surplus as a mayor.”
The community, business and people’s organization leaders who in their individual capacity have endorsed the Poe-Bemonte tandem were from Bantay-Pilipinas-USA; Pangasinan Brotherhood; Knights of Rizal-Historic Filipinotown (KOR-HFT); Justice for Filipino-American Veterans(JFAV)-LA; Rampart Village Neighborhood Council (RVNC); HIFI CALI EXPO; Philippine Institute of Language Arts and Culture(PILAC); Council For Trade and Investments for Filipino American (COTIFA).

USCIS ANNOUNCEMENT ON DACA
USCIS has accounted for over 99 percent of the approximately 2,600 identified invalid work permits requiring return. Twenty-two of the approximately 2,600 recipients failed to return their work permits or certify good cause for not doing so by the deadline of July 30, 2015. As a result, those 22 have been terminated from DACA.
The recall only applied to SOME individuals who received a card after the Feb. 16, 2015, court order. There are approximately 108,000 individuals who have valid 3-year DACA work permits and do not need to return them. If you were affected by the recall and returned your invalid 3-year work permit, use Case Status Online to verify whether USCIS received your work permit.

The date we sent you a Confirmation of Compliance Notice
You did not return your invalid work permit
The date we sent you a Termination Notice
Note: If you are still in possession of your invalid 3-year work permit, you must return it.

Call USCIS Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283, select option 1 for English, then option 8; or
Visit your local USCIS field office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

LA FILAMS JOINS GLOBAL ACTION VS CHINA AT PRC LA CONSULATE, JULY 25
Los Angeles- ” Down With Chinese Social-Imperialism!”
Singing “China, China Magnanakaw” and chanting “China Out of the Philippines.” Scores of Filipino-Americans ralled and picketed at the People’s Republic of China (PRC) Los Angeles Consulate to join the Global Action Vs. China last Friday, July 25, 2015.
The rally was led by the Bantay Pilipinas-USA, Talakayan sa FACLA, Knights of Rizal-HFT and the Overseas Filipinos for Good Governance (OPGG), a US –wide organization that led the rallies in San Francisco, New York, the Marianas and other places world wide
The Picket-Rally
The more than an hour long picket was held in front of the PRC Consulate at 443 Shatto Place St. Los Angeles,CA
LA lawyer Atty Roman Mosqueda said, “ We support the Philippine government delegation stand at The Hague, The Netherlands at the Arbitral Court of the ITLOS. There are ample evidences that the Chinese claims does not hold water and are preposterous.”
The rallyist loudly sang,”China, China Magnanakaw.” and “China island grabber.” Prompting the security guard to call the LAPD. The rally was widely covered by Fil-Am press and TV stations.
The LAPD on the other seems cognizant and sympathetic to the anti-China mass action and said,” you can stay as long as you want.”
LA Filam Community leaders who led the the rally were Atty.Roman Mosqueda, Andrea Aquino of NAM-USA, Dr. Orly Cagampan of the Knight of Rizal and Rotary Club of HFT, Macky Fortu of RVNC and Knights Commander of the KOR-HFT Arturo Garcia and Talakayan sa FACLA.

PINOY MINISTRY MARKED 1st YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF FOOD DISTRIBUTION/FEEDING PROGRAM AT FACLA JULY 25
Los Angeles– The Pinoy Ministry of the Wilshire United Methodist Church marked its One Year Anniversary of their Feeding/Food Distribution and I/T Program last Saturday, July 25, 2015.
Scores of JFAV and FACLA members attended the program at FACLA. The program has been a success ever since and has distributed food, have fed hundreds of seniors ,veterans and widows as well as indigent persons since it started in the middle of 2014.
According to JFAV Coordinator Arturo P. .Garcia, “ The Pinoy Ministry started the program one year ago with the Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) and the HIFI CALI EXPO LLC. FACLA and UBLA joined later.”
Free Info /IT Seminar
The feeding and food distribution program did not only feed the people but feed their souls. Bible lessons were given at the start of the monthly event. JFAV also gives regular updates on their struggle for equity and justice.
Later on the suggestion of Sid Balatan, FACLA Director for Information and Technology a FREE workshop on information technology for seniors on how to email, iphone and tablet literacy and technology was added to the program.
This technology literacy seminar is FREE for people especially for seniors who want to learn about this gadgets. This workshop is FREE.
Especially for senior adults, using their phones and tablets should not be troublesome. That is why many seniors participated in the seminar and later it became a permanent program.
