Los Angeles- For more than six hours, Silver Lake and Echo Park virtually was without power and became like Manila last July 1, 2015.
The brown out or power outage hit more than 20,000 resident of Silver Lake and Echo Park in the 13th District of Los Angeles due to the explosion of a power transmission like in Silver Lake area.
Better Service
According to Council Member Mitch O’ Farrell, “the Department of Water and Power (DWP) and the LA City Authorities is doing all what it can to improve the power services so it will not happen again and inconvenience the residents anymore.”
The Echo Park residents noted that the July 1 brown out was one of the longest in the city. There were brown-outs but it only last for more than an hour at most or less than fifteen minutes or less.
“ Power interruptions or brown outs becomes common during summer when the heat is high and many residents uses their air conditioners all at the same time,” DWP source says.
